Unwanted movement (contrary to the movement you can create with your shutter speed as discussed) happens when you or sometimes even the wind causes your camera to slightly move. You can minimize this by keeping your elbows pressed to your chest, the viewer close to your eyes and breathe easily. As a rule of thumb anything slower than 1/30 is very likely to give you unwanted movement in your pictures. If you need such a slow shutter speed or slower use a tripod (or a bag of beans on some rocks!) and use your timer or a remote control
